A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. Sometimes the areola becomes enlarged over time, and a breast lift will reduce this as well.
A breast lift can rejuvenate your figure with a breast profile that is more youthful and uplifted. A woman's breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. These changes and loss of skin elasticity can result from pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, aging and gravity. Breast lift can be performing with or without implants.
How Is The Procedure Done?
Mastopexy is performed under general anesthesia in an outpatient surgery center, procedure take between 2 to 3 hours.
Are there scars after a breast lift?
For mild ptosis, the incision may be just around the areola, for moderate or severe ptosis the incision is a vertical line from the areola to the breast fold and a line in the breast fold, also known as inverted T or anchor. These incisions usually fade with time and are concealed in the fold and at the border of the areola.
When can I get back to my exercise routine and work?
You will need to avoid heavy lifting for 3-4 weeks and avoid strenuous sports for a month. You could plan to return to work after one week.
